The Garvey Group Receives FSC and SFI Chain of Custody Certifications

August 2008—The Garvey Group proudly obtained company-wide Chain-of-Custody certification. Bureau Veritas, a leading inspection, verification, auditing, testing and certification company, certified all four of our facilities for handling FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) and FSI (Sustainable Forestry Initiative) papers. Bureau Veritas is recognized as an expert in helping clients comply with standards and regulations relating to Quality, Health & Safety, Environment and Social Responsibility. Chain-of-Custody tracks paper products throughout their life cycle beginning with proper forestry management all the way to consumption by the end-user.

Garvey’s facilities are now certified for two independent forest management agencies. These certifications place us in a small group of commercial printers that have obtained dual certifications from FSC and SFI.






Three 2008 PI Wisconsin Spring Awards to TGG

Milwaukee, WI., May 2008—The Garvey Group’s Milwaukee, Wisconsin, plant was recognized for outstanding work at the Printing Industry of Wisconsin’s Spring 2008 “Badger” Awards competition. The company received 1 Best of Category Digital Print Campaigns for a Courvoisier Welcome Kit and 2 Awards of Excellence.

Seven Pinnacle Awards Received for Large Format

Niles, IL., May 2008—The Garvey Group received seven top printing awards at the Printing Industry of Illinois/Indiana Association's Pinnacle Print Awards Ceremoney held in May. All seven of the large format pieces submitted won awards. Each job was produced on Garvey's KBA Rapid 205, 81-inch six color sheet–fed press. Forty-three member companies entered the competition with a total of 393 entries.

The Garvey Group won best of Category, three Awards of Excellence, and three Certificates of Merit for their entries. The submitted pieces included a point of purchase display for Sears and DVD display systems for thee movies Alvin & The Chipmunks and the Golden Compass.

The Garvey Group has been a member of the Printing Impressions Top 400 Printers in the United States and Canada (based on revenues) every year since 2002.





TGG Wins Benny
The Garvey Group wins a 2007 Premier Print Award

Niles, IL., August 2007—The Garvey Group (TGG) has won a coveted “Benny Award,” the highest honor in the 2007 Premier Print Awards, for the company’s “DreamGirls” poster entry. The Premier Print Awards, the graphic arts industry’s largest and most prestigious worldwide printing competition, recognizes outstanding achievement in print production. TGG’s winning entry came in the Large Format Printing category.



Six Pinnacle Awards for the Garvey Group

Niles, IL, May 2007—The Garvey Group, one of the Midwest’s most successful printers, has garnered six top printing awards from the Printing Industry of Illinois/Indiana Association’s Pinnacle Print Awards. Six of Garvey’s nine large-format printing pieces submitted to the competition won awards for jobs produced on its KBA Rapida 205 81-inch six-color sheet–fed press. The Garvey Group received its awards at PII's 5th Annual Pinnacle Print Awards Gala on May 22 in Des Plaines, IL.

The scanning systems and spectrophotometer systems on our KBA press gives us the ability to hold color really well throughout the run and the Rapida 205 has shown, and this competition has demonstrated, that it prints to the highest standards anywhere.”

TGG won one Best of Category, three Awards of Excellence, and two Certificates of Merit for their entries. The submitted pieces included a Jack Daniels display system as well as movie posters for The Departed, Casino Royale, and a poster for a cartoon show titled Teen Titans.

The company received 2 Best of Category Awards, 2 Awards of Excellence and a Certificate of Merit .

Garvey Adds 81-inch press
Huge press installed in Niles

Niles, IL., February 2007—The Garvey Group (TGG) has made another major capital investment that will benefit large format printing customers. We have just finished installing our third new large format press, a KBA 205 eighty-one inch, six-color machine capable of running as fast as 9,000 impressions per hour on sheets up to a whopping 60" x 81"—or 33 square feet! The 205 is perfect for large posters and Point of Sale displays, and complements our 56-inch and 64-inch KBA presses that are installed at our Niles facility.

“This multi-million dollar investment gives the Garvey Group a printing configuration unmatched among Midwest printers,” said Ed Garvey, CEO and owner. “Our new presses are equipped with the latest automation and offer speed and flexibility exceeding that of older machines.”

The 205, like our other KBA presses, is fully equipped with image scanning and closed loop wiring (Garvey Color Measurement and Management SystemSM) which guarantees color consistency throughout the run. The 205 prints on a wide range of substrates from .004mm to .048mm in thickness–including paper and heavy stock board—using matte, dull, gloss and aqueous coatings.

Sara Lee’s “sandwich” brochure was printed and die cut to perfection by the Garvey Group. Printing Industries of America recognized Garvey’s work on this “tasty” direct mail piece by awarding the company the highest possible honor, a Best in Show Award for Graphics Excellence.
